Review Riley

Friend birthday parties come around every other year for each kid in our family. For the birthday party, the child gets to choose how to spend their birthday budget: I can do a party for less and still give them a birthday present, or they can opt to spend the birthday money on a memory. This year Riley chose the memory and took his friens laser tagging.

Here are Aaron Brown, Kip Simmonson, Mikey Riordan, Nathan Hopkins, Daniel Morgan, Riley, Parker, David Black all suited for the fun.

Riley finished school well. He got ! (which is a teacher's way of commenting WOW!!!!) from four different teachers the final quarter.

He has been taking trumpet lessons and is loving music. He wants to be eligible for jazz band because that will demonstrate that he is worthy. In fact Riley announced that when he was considering what he wants to be when he grows up, he either wants to do something with his trumpet or be an engineer (which has been his occupational goal since he was nine).

Since school has been out, Riley has been a part of jazz summer camp. He took a few classes, but missed the first four of the last week. They had a performance when he returned in which the kids got to get up impromptu to solo. As the concert wore on, I started to think he wouldn't solo because he hadn't had enough practice. But during the last song, up he strode. It was good to see that he has the heart for this.

Looks like a fun party. And that's great that his teachers were so impressed with him!! It also sounds like he's developing some good confidence while playing the trumpet. Impressive. :)
