Mini-miracle

Ever feel overwhelmed? Well I sure did last week. I wasn't feeling well and felt I couldn't accomplish what I would like to or what I thought I should. I realized Sunday night that I was depressed and I figured it was a result of the health setback I've experienced the last couple of months.

Monday morning I laid down about 10:30 (ultimate surrender!) and when I got up twenty minutes later, I felt impressed to go to the computer and I was given what search words to use. Three clicks later I had my answer. You see, the body's serotonin is mostly in the bowel, only 5 - 10 percent in the head. I figured if my bowels weren't functioning correctly and I was low enough on serotonin that I felt depressed, confused, and anxious, that my body must be terribly deficient. So I called Dave knowing that something we have at work is supposed to help increase serotonin.

Within twenty minutes of my first dose of 5-HTP, the bloat in my belly diminished. Wow. The next day I could concentrate again. Two days later, I was tackling my storage room and trimming up my food storage.

When I went to the GI specialist three days later, the word was to keep up the good work. This week I was concerned that it wasn't working as well and I stopped taking it for 24 hours. My fibromyalgia, a sibling of the IBS, errupted and the pain was so terribly intense I could not get on top of it. Reintroducing 5-HTP yesterday helped, but I am forced to take it a little easier than I like today.

Oh well, blog to update, book to finish. Slower can be good! Miracles are definately good.
