Dear Riley,
How are things for you this week? I’m so excited to hear about the changes with your companionship and the other missionaries in your area. Bro T posted before and after pics of your Songkran waterfight. It looks like you had fun. It’s nice to have glimpses of you and see that you are happy where you are. And I like your Thai friends keeping me as a fly on the wall!
We are doing well at home.
Cambry has one final left and heads out to London Monday next week. We will go to the Payson Temple openhouse that morning as a family or else she would have missed the opportunity. It will be a nice send-off, don’t you think? Cambry was called to be the second counselor in her RS presidency today, even though she’s about to be gone for two months. She’s going to be so busy! It’ll be good for her.
Parker was a champ last night and while Dad was working in the yard and I was having a girls’ night with M and A, he biked to Smith’s to get Cambry some Coke for an upset stomach. Wasn’t that sweet?
Elise is doing well. She got up by herself Friday for the temple. I love that she does that. Parker had stayed up too late the night before and didn’t wake up to her pleadings, though he has complete conversations. J
Aleah is happy. She loves a party. Last night, she was all over the girls’ night. After making some pieces of jewelry for M, Aleah got out the dishes and started scooping ice cream, though no one really wanted any. I had to smile at her love for a party. Aleah really struggled with hayfever and then a cold? this week and her upper lip still has rub marks from her wiping. She came with me on a quick run to Costco one night this week for buns for our sloppy joes and to pick up the picture print (which I didn’t mail… sorry) and when we came out, it was raining MUD! Really! The wind had blown amazing amounts of dust into the air (thus the crazy hayfever) and then it dumped all those particles onto our cars. Gross!
Josie is battling a cough and runny nose this weekend. Thursday morning she said she slept in Aleah’s bed and got her sickness. She might be right. Right now she is eating her chocolate Easter bunny which I guess she found in her bedroom. Her book this week was “Love You Forever” and she loves to look up as I tear up – which I always do – when the grown up son comes home from visiting his sick mother and he stands at the top of the stairs for a long time before he goes and carries her loving song to his little baby girl. Tears every single time I read it.
Dad has been so busy with work and church. He had to catch up on the process after our staycation last week and went in early and worked late Thursday and then went in Friday again. But then we had kind of an unplanned retreat for the weekend. We used a gift card we got from work at Red Lobster, always enjoyable but even more this week. Then we went to see MacFarland, based upon a true story about a washed up football coach who moves his family to a migrant working town in California. He starts the kids running cross country and in that first year, takes State with his team by working disadvantages to advantage. It was a really good movie. Then Dad and I got up early Saturday morning and ran to the temple. I was super tired, but happy to be there. We were home only one hour before we left to see the matinee for Les Miserables at the Hale Center Theater. We got home a little after 2 and it felt like we’d been gone a couple days.
I’m tired. I went on antibiotic for a humdinger of a sinus infection Monday or Tuesday. I also had my last PTA meeting this week, wrapping things up in April so we don’t have to meet in the second busiest month of the year: May. Did I tell you that I am finally off the pain medicine for the Ramsay Hunt? I last took one Easter. There is still some discomfort, but it’s not unbearable. What a miracle! Really.
GB is recovering well, but this week has been very difficult with pain and immobility. GP may have been having a RAGE immune reaction all these months, more severe than an allergy. G realized that she had changed his pillow about the time all this trouble began to a down pillow (and he’s allergic to feathers!). G thinks he’s improved a little, but she’s not confident they know all that is influencing his trouble.
Cambry and I went to BT’s bridal shower this week.
I gotta go visit L at M’s. She sang the Lamb of God at the prison today. What a wonderful thing to do.
I love you so much. I want to hear where your companion is from, if he has a blog I can read, how long he’s been out… anything else you can tell me. And does ES have a blog?
We miss you,
Mom
