Dear Riley,

We’ve concluded a wonderful conference weekend. I am actually standing while I type because my bottom is tired of sitting. But I am so grateful for the watchmen on the tower. Elder Cook shared with the members the reaction in Thailand a year ago as the temple was announced through Sis Senior’s words. To think you were part of that warmed my heart. And Elder Gong spoke this afternoon and I know he has toured your mission.

I hope you’re doing well and have had a good week. We are just starting spring break and after conference weekend, I find myself more relaxed than I likely should be. Like it will all hit me a little later. But tonight it just feels good to be calm. :)

The best thing of this week: I got TWO bikes in yesterday. Maybe that has me seat sore? Dad and I got up early and biked before conference yesterday morning. It was kind of chilly, the weather has been the last week. But we were headed for a clear, sunny day, so it was beautiful. We went out on the Murdock Canal, probably 20 miles round trip. We book. Then Cambry and Cameron decided to take a bike after the afternoon session. Elise, Aleah, and I decided to join them. I rode Cambry’s bike since she was riding mine. We probably biked 10 miles roundtrip. I had been the last to ride all the different bikes… tsssss.

The girls and I went out last night with the crowds shopping for stuff for the wedding. But the best thing we got was glitter-gold jelly shoes for Josie. Cambry wishes they made them for adults since she fondly remembers them as the most comfortable shoes she ever wore.

My major accomplishment of the week was that I collected all the cute printed pictures from my stacks for Cambry’s wedding reception. I still have to scan them. But it was so sweet looking back on life. Oh you were adorable, Riley! All my kids were so adorable. So many good memories.

Josie is sick. She’s giving up her afternoon nap. I guess it’s time for kindergarten. :D She’s needed a lot of engagement and I’ve been distracted with planning and executing items for the wedding. Then Friday she found my diskman and put in The Muppets Frog Prince with headphones and it was the best day of the week to that point. Poor critter, needs to read.

Aleah survived 5th grade maturation, she didn’t quite die of mortification. She’s sick today and yesterday with a pesky cold. She was sucking wind on the bike last night. I held back all the way home and worked with her on shifting and her form; she rides her right foot way out on the pedal, like she’s afraid the chain will bite her. Therefore her leg pushes out at an angle rather than straight down, giving her less power. I’ve given her ADD drops because the Easter candy had her buzzing. They relax her immediately. Poor girl.

Elise was in high demand for babysitting this week, babysitting Thursday, Friday, was asked for Saturday (but got canceled), and tomorrow. She’s a favorite. She’s doing really well in school and really loves yearbook. Parker bought another galaxy s relay for parts for his phone. The spare phone still works, so he took Elise to the church parking lot and downloaded a texting app and tons of music and some games. She can text when she has wifi. She’s in heaven. Aleah lives vicariously, wanting to play the games all the time. Josie also feels a little entitled to the games. I haven’t looked into putting a SIM card in it, but it wouldn’t cost much to add to the plan. I don’t know. I just don’t see the need yet.

Parker has hope. He had an appointment with a different psychiatrist since he’d been seeing a child psychiatrist to this point and can’t now that he’s 18. This one was recommended by his counselor and they do a different approach. They took a DNA sample and there is a test that helps them project how he will respond to different medications. Plus he got up to a therapeutic dose of zoloft this week. Hopefully he’ll use spring break to catch up some with school. Hope is powerful.

Cambry’s engaged. And happy. School’s at high pressure point. But she’s not going to fail, so high pressure isn’t so high pressure. Cameron had an acapella jam this week. The group he sings with opened the concert and did really well. Man, that takes guts! I don’t have those kind of guts.

Dad’s feeling relaxed tonight. But don’t worry, all these off-Sundays always catch back up to him later. We listened to the beginning of the Priesthood meeting and Elder Nelson was cautioning the brethren that if they do not bring the power of the Priesthood into their lives, by living worthy of it, they will not be able to work the miracles their loved ones will depend upon. I said out loud that I could recommend Dad. Then Elder Nelson asked them how their wives and children would rate their worthiness. You’ve got a great dad, son, follow him.

Well I’m assuming you didn’t baptize Chaad’s family today. But tell me about your people over there. Why were the Johnsons up in your neck of the woods? And Kyle Bunker?
I told you I’d post the picture prints. But they’re still on my counter. Blah. I’m sorry.

We love you!

Love,
Mom
