From Mom April 17, 2016 Fevers

Dear Riley,

I’m not feeling great this evening, so I'm worried this letter will come off as abrupt or formulaic.

Cambry is sick with strep again!  She’s on the sofa waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.  They’re in finals this week and she GRADUATES on Friday.  They have an apartment in Wymount that they can start moving into May 10.  We’re six weeks and a little from the wedding.  And they are adorable together.

Parker has me impressed right now.  He’s had horrible sleep patterns for the past couple years, dividing his sleep between the early hours of the morning and late hours of the afternoon.  He had an appointment with his PA/psychiatrist this week.  The good news is that the DNA metabolism test showed that he is on the right medications.  But he added another to help him sleep.  Then he gave him sleep protocols that eliminated naps except on Sundays, and established regular sleep and wake times.  It’s been difficult for Parker, but he’s doing it!  And Parker says he’s starting to feel some motivation. Which is good, because school’s almost out. He's got Senioritis.

Elise played the piano over at Canyon Breeze today.  She said it was rough, but I’ve heard her practicing and I think it couldn’t have been too bad.  Elise went to the language fair at BYU this week.  She did well on her vocab test.  She went to eat lunch and ran into the Cam’s and was able to eat with them.  That’s pretty cool.

Aleah has been miserable with hayfever this week.  And she had a sinus infection.  We’ve been treating her and she’s almost better and A LOT better to live with. (It was a rough couple days…)

Josie’s new word this week was hideous.  “That would look hideous.”  Her book of the week was Green Eggs and Ham.  And she has two loose teeth on the bottom.  Elise was in her room today when Josie came up for a timeout after a spat with Aleah.  Josie said, “I’m so mad at Aleah.  I should rip up her dress for the wedding.”  Elise said that wasn’t a good idea since I would make her pay for a new one.  “No she won’t”  and she launched for the closet.  But before she could reach the dress, her hand found her Pringles container from earlier in the week.  Her scowl deepened, “Aleah hid this from me!”  and then her brow softened as did her tone, “Wait!  I hid them.”  She ate the last two or three chips and after a minute said, “I’m feeling better now.”

Dad has bees again and that makes him happy.  He’s busy.  And great.

I didn’t get a bike in this week because the weather and time didn’t work out.  :(  I’m sewing a dress for the wedding.  I’m not certain it’ll work, but I’ve gotta try. I helped the kids file their taxes.  And I baked a gluten free/dairy free/corn free cake to help CY out this week.  It fell the last little bit, but smelled good. Spring here has been just beautiful with all the blossoms popping out on the trees. When I had K this week during music time, I asked him if he didn't think the flowers on trees weren't beautiful. He corrected me that they were called blossoms. :) Beauty comes with a price though, I wanted to gouge my eyes out and about rubbed my nose raw. And the wretched sinus infection seized the opportunity. But it should clear, it should clear, it's gotta clear.

Yesterday we (except Cambry who had to work) went up to Layton to help Grandma and Grandpa deal with the flood they had in their basement when the utility company was drilling through their yard and hit their sewer pipe.  We helped sort through stuff and box up stuff that is a donation waiting to happen.

I hope your couple days since we last communicated were good.  Just do your best and trust God to accomplish His work through you, even through your weakness.

I love you so much!

Love,
Mom
