Dear Riley,
Did you catch that like I did? The year in the date of the letter is the same one you’ll come home in. Wow, howdy! Better put it all out there while you have the chance!
It’s not been a long while since we wrote, but that doesn’t mean nothing’s happened. Thursday night C came down really ill with a fever and body aches and the like. Cambry asked me to help her make chicken noodle soup for him Friday morning. So of course, I did. It took a couple hours, but it was delicious!
That evening we went over to be with M and S before they went home. The conversation almost always veers to the family pictures with people who aren’t around often. And so it did this night. It really is a remarkable project and I don’t have much to defend it with other than it was inspired and we really do have fun with it. The nativity picture was taken while I was sick and I just wanted to get to bed. And the kids and Dad were laughing and having fun and I actually said, “If you all would stop having so much fun, we could be done already!”
Saturday was busy. Dad and I had to go to the baptism where we had three of our primary children baptized. It was lovely and I felt the Spirit so much. Can you believe GB, ME, and AR are all eight? I was the chorister for the meeting. We had been told choose three songs for the program which we did. But then it turned out that the time was turned over to us to lead the congregation in song while we waited. Poor Sis B panicked inside and we winged it. After about 10 songs, I turned it over to her to play what she could. It all worked out, but.
Dad and I decided to go to the temple right after the baptism. The Provo Temple is closed through Monday so we went to Timpanogos. All the New Year’s resolutions in the one temple made for a 40 minute wait standing in the hall waiting to get into the chapel. I love/hate congested temples! But the thing that stuck out to me this session was water. I know, unexpected, right? I’ve been thinking about all the implications of water. And adding to that the ways the Savior used it in teaching and the imagery it has been used for in the scriptures. I have a lot of study material to get through. One scripture that touched me was James 3:17 and that’s my ponderize for the week.
We got the Star Wars trilogy and watched the first two movies last night. It was fun to do that. (I have to admit that I just HAD to sneak out to do a couple chores. I’m sorry. But my one and only resolution for the year is to get more sleep. I put myself on a 10:30 in the room praying standard because prayers take at least 20 minutes at night since we pray together and separately. So I had all this loose-end stuff tugging at me. But this morning I realized that I have quiet time in the morning this way too. It can get done.)
Church was great. We are on the 1:00 schedule which I don’t really enjoy. But I’ve discovered that some people really like it. I need to consider this. Singing time was really fun today. All the kids were excited because their classes changed so it was almost like the first day of school today. But we had fun learning.
We have such good home teachers in Bro M and Bro H. They are both really good and loving men. I appreciate them. And Bro M bore testimony today and I can hardly believe the miracle that he is right now. We’re grateful.
Well the C’s just came over. So I’m going to go visit.
I love you so much! Keep up the good work.
Love,
Mom
