I could write an epistle on any one day this week. What to share with you….
We had a wonderful singles dinner Tuesday night. We served hot chocolate and wassil, of course. I had CY cook a turkey, oven roasted potatoes, and a carrot ginger soup and she had fresh fruit and cream for a dessert option. I cooked mint chocolate Buche de Noel (a chocolate sponge cake with cream and sauce rolled up) and cheesecake for desserts. I also cooked cream of mushroom soup, herb crusted pork loin, and we had green beans. And instead of rolls, I had Dad make sourdough bread which took a lot of time but was wonderful. We set out green salads and my mom sent down my grandma’s marshmallow fruit salad with maraschino cherries. It was all so remarkably tasty which pleased me. The china sparkled. I had two new ward members help with the decorations and the program and they knocked it out of the ballpark. We had our fake tree set up and decorated beautifully in the YW’s room and they hung twinkle lights in lines below the ceiling and had lights on the centerpieces with a couple floor lamps to give us what other light we needed. The program was wonderful with a harpist, a violin piano duet, and a barbershop quartet composed of twin brothers and the adult daughters of one of them. It was fabulous. The entire thing was so well received and ran pretty well this year. I have to iron out some of the kinks with the serving for next year, but I am very pleased with how things came out this year. The YM/YW were my set-up and clean up crew, and they cleaned up all the food as well, well except the green beans. :D
I’ve had a sinus crazy week too. Tuesday morning I had to run to my ENT for a sinus biopsy that is supposed to tell them what kind of bugs are living in my head which keep me run down all the time. Here’s hoping. While I was up there, my ENT decided to free my left turbinate from my sinus wall as he knows that can contribute to the chronic sinusitis. Then I ran back down home to pull off the dinner. My ENT also prescribed antibiotics since I definitely had an infection. He asked what I was allergic to and I told him sulphas. But I forgot that I had a reaction to arithromycin and erithromycin 24 years ago. I started taking clarithromycin that afternoon and it was indeed helping the infection. Until Thursday morning during the Cascade Christmas sing when I felt like I was hit by the worst and most acute flu ever. I hopped into the bath between that and Josie’s music class review. I couldn’t figure out what was happening. I noticed blotchy skin when I got out of the bath and wondered if I was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotic, even with a fever. Ben confirmed that it could be. When I layed down to rest for a minute, I heard wheezing in my chest which felt tight so I got up and took liquid benadryl. We've had two ER trips in two weeks with two allergic reactions to antibiotics. Ah, man! It was a little rough actually. I woke myself from sleep that night complaining to Dad that my chest was so tight.

We’ve had so many commemorations as we anticipated. The girls had their dance recitals Wednesday in class. Elise is amazing, leaping like a gazelle across the dance floor. And Aleah is coming right along too. Josie is a natural dancer. I can hardly believe the progress they’ve made in just a few months.
Thursday night Elsie accompanied a choir during her choir concert and she played beautifully. She is just blooming wider daily! Aleah sang with her Cascade group, it was a fun concert. Josie showed us what she’s been doing in music class with SM. That night, after my allergic reaction began to settle a little, we went to our friend’s annual party with our newlywed ward friends. Dad and I went up to the conference center for the Christmas concert with the Tabernacle Choir Friday night which was a wonderful concert as always.
Walking back to the car from the concert, we realized we were crossing the street with my O cousins who were up having a large family retreat. They had just run into AB and her boyfriend who were up looking at the lights on Temple Square. Wow, that’s incredible. They are such beautiful people, those O's! And good! And sweet! And real. I love my family!!!
The weather has been pretty mild and a storm rolled in today and dropped slushy snow. I guess it’s winter and Christmas time!
I asked Bro T where you had been transferred and he said Chiang Mai which looks positively beautiful. Can’t wait to hear. But one Mom on the FB page is telling us your pday is moved to Christmas and we won’t hear from you until we skype. I hope she’s wrong. The transfer video was up earlier than expected and wonder of wonders, I saw you standing in the package pile holding your white box that had your Christmas in it!!! Ahhh! That confirmation was the best present you could have gotten me. Did you get the little package with the toothbrush heads as well?
I’m still woefully unprepared for Christmas. But it will come all the same. I haven’t slept more than 5 - 6 hours a night for weeks. I’m worn out, fighting a sinus infection poorly (the doc sent in a new rx for me which the pharmacy said they never got. Seeing as this happens 50% of the time and often after the doctor’s office is closed, I’m switching pharmacies… tomorrow.) And I don’t think we’ve had a day since the cold weather hit where we have had everybody in the house well. I’m weary! I did play the flute with the ward choir today. BD put up a big mic and amplified my sound and it was lovely.
Cambry and C finished finals this week which means Cambry has only one more set of finals in her undergrad, perhaps even her life. Whoot! Cambry works a lot of hours over the break as she collected shifts before she was dating C. She’s a little bummed about that. They’re still so happy. They’ve spent more time over at his house the last couple days, a good thing, I’m sure. But I miss her.
One neat thing I can share from this week was that after the party Tuesday night I had such a wonderful feeling all day Wednesday. I was satisfied and content and loving and kind. I felt like I was carried by strength beyond my own and those angels continued with me a little ways past the event. It felt good. And I was full of charity, so filled up with love for our ward members. I felt prayers in my behalf answered with blessings upon my head, much needed blessings.
I guess I need to get off. I’ll send a bunch of pictures to you as well. I hope to hear from you tonight, but if I don’t until I speak to you my Christmas Eve, that’s OK.
I love you!
