Hi Riley!

It’s Father’s Day today.  I sure hope you appreciate your father and recognize how unusually committed he has always been to God, me, and you children.  You are a lucky kid.  Today in JC’s talk he tied his mission into Father’s Day by telling us that all he ever wanted was to be like his dad who is a convert and who served a mission.  By the way Bro C talked about his mission, J always knew how important those two years had always been to him.  It was really touching.

We’ve had a busy week.  Ward stuff has been intense.  Plus normal life.

I sent the girls to dance camp Monday through Wednesday this week.  Josie danced from 9 – 10:30 and Elise and Aleah would dance from 10:45 – 3.  Josie didn’t love her dance camp.  She doesn’t like being told to stand on a spot.  She would really rather tell everyone what to do than to be told.  And at the performance on Wednesday when another girl in the group told Josie she was crowding her, Josie just thought she was plain mean.

Elise and Aleah loved dance camp.  They would like to study dance further.  Elise is built for ballet and she looks so graceful down to her fingertips.  But she doesn’t really enjoy ballet, she likes modern dance. Aleah is a hip hop fan.  They worked hard and really enjoyed the time.

The ward business has been just almost overwhelming.  Just after FHE and sending you our picture, Sis B called at our house to alert us to the death of KK.  Oh it is so sad.  All that potential lost.  I will play the flute with Sis M on piano for the memorial service tomorrow.  Dad is at the viewing right now.

Brother M’s funeral came off really well.  Dad shared with you his remarks.  I was really touched by what he said.  There was much mention of forgiveness from the children.  But there was also recognition of the gift he gave them in the gospel as well as his diligence in working to support them sometimes three jobs at a time.  That is honorable.

We had such a treat Tuesday to visit with DJ before he left his mission.  He looks great.  He said you haven’t been exchanging emails but just once or twice.  But his last letters have been so tender and touching.  He has been a good missionary.  He said that he got really good at asking members questions which would help them find people.  He would ask for names of people who are not members but who have been to church before.  There were several other questions which I don’t remember.  Drat.  I was going to send them right away before I forgot, but it’s been busy here.

Watch Josie's expression.  I'm pretty sure DJ pinched her.

We’re all looking forward to Cambry coming home Wednesday this week.  She has discovered so much there, especially who she is.  I’m glad she has taken this opportunity.  This past week the program was over and she has toured Paris with a group of girls and is now in Switzerland with one roommate from the program.  Cambry had the most French in the group and was able to communicate with them sufficiently many times, though she said her head hurt at the end of the day.

Parker still doesn’t have his phone replaced.  He really wants to keep that old phone and would rather hold on to that possibility than move forward.  I dunno.  But having no phone has significantly increased the amount of time we have face to face with him, so no big complaints from me.

We’ve had a lot of fighting this week.  I’ve been tired and stressed and the kids are at each other all the time.  Dad’s been unavailable so much of the time.  Josie has a fever and sore throat and a runny nose.  I still haven’t made plans for summer trips and summer will be over by the time I get around to it I’m afraid.  Grrr.  But I did get my old sewing table moved down to the craft room yesterday along with the fabric from the garage.  (Two days, max, left on garage.)  The craft room and storage room are really mostly done.  Phew.  Now if I could just get a little time to do the last 5%.  That’s the hardest part of any project, the last 5%.  And the most rewarding.  My goal was to complete the garage by the time Cambry comes home.  Pressure!

We had salmon tonight for Dad’s dinner.  I thought of you as I turned the fish on the barbeque, how you wanted to serve a mission where fish is a frequent menu item.  I bet you done good on that one!  I made more rhubarb pies.  I made one just for Grandpa P because he loved the last one so much; that is his Father’s Day gift.

Well, I hope you have a wonderful week.  I was so excited to read of the exciting action in your area.  We pray for you all the time.  I hope you feel the Spirit directing you in the things you say.  Love and serve your companion.  Love your members.  Serve, serve, serve!

I love you,
